We had a lovely day filled with pedicures, Pockets for lunch, and "How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days". Thank you, CB, for letting me hijack your Saturday and hanging out!
Around 5:00, I picked up this guy from the train to begin our romantic night in the Chi -

We had a wonderful evening of wine tasting at The Tasting Room (which boasts the most romantic bar in the city, and I have to agree), followed by dinner at Redlight. I have to take a moment to say that I love Jerry Kleiner's restaurants (Gioco, Marche, Opera) - and I am disappointed to find that his latest establishment in the South Loop, Room 21, has closed. If I had a blog back in September, I would have blogged about the time myself and five fabulous girlfriends:
* Had drinks at Zed 451 on the rooftop
* Had an amazing dinner at Room 21, followed by a private tour of the facilities (Al Capone's old office overlooked the kitchen), followed by free drinks at the bar with the executive chef (I bet the tab was at least $200)
* Decided it was a good idea to take a cab from 21st and Wabash to Clark and Lawerence to meet Mikey at Carol's Pub, a country bar
* Then decided it was an even better idea to go to the Green Mill at 2:00 a.m.
Man, what a blog post that night would have made!
But back to V-Day. Dinner was fantastic. We had mango/lobster spring rolls, heart-shaped scallops, and an apple chicken curry dish for me and a stinky beef dish for Mikey. As much as we wanted dessert, suprisingly, we just couldn't do it:( Thank you, Mikey, for stuffing my belly full of food and my heart full of love. (Sorry, I couldn't help myself!)
On another note, we also spent a lot of time over the weekend wedding planning and shopping at my favorite place of all time, Target. What disturbed my peaceful, Zen-like state as I was shopping were the copious amount of shoppers stocking up on discounted Valentines Day items. I literally stood behind a woman and her daughter with a cart FULL of candy, fake roses, stuffed animals, dish towels with hearts, etc. What did they do? As they were placing each item on the conveyor belt, they INSPECTED each item for no less than 15 seconds before they decided to purchase it. Seriously? Like, you hadn't figured this out yet? Along those same lines, if you're going to use coupons, please have them ready and out of your purse before you check out. Thankyouverymuch, Meghan.
I also saw "He's Just Not That Into You". A few thoughts:
* Jennifer Aniston may have a hot bod on the cover of "GQ", but she is, to quote the famous Cher Horowitz, a "full-on Monet". Truly, her face on the big screen just screams, "Please feed me with moisturizer and Oil of Olay products. Also, please stop smoking. And while you're at it, please kick John Mayer to the curb. Thank you."
* No matter what your relationship status is, you will question what you know/think you know about men and relationships. When the line "Men don't ever want to get married" was uttered - you better believe I wanted to have a full-blown conversation with Mike in the middle of the theater.
* Ginnifer Goodwin is adorable and she needs more movie roles.
* Scarlett Johansson cannot sing. But I still love her smoky voice when she speaks.
* Justin Long is highly underrated. It was nice to see the goofy guy get lucky for once.
