I really love the topic this week - my middle/high school self! As much as I wish I had gorgeous pictures to show you (including some sweet bangs!), ALL of my photos are at my parents' house, so you'll have to live without my beautiful perm.
1. What were you like in Middle School/HS?
I was always a very motivated student. In middle school, I was actually salutatorian of the CLASS OF 94 (SO old). In addition, I played basketball, volleyball, ran cross-country, and played the flute. AND, the best part? I wore glasses. I was such a nerd. But a cute one.
In high school, I ditched the glasses for contacts, threw the flute in the back of my closet, and in addition to continuing with basketball, I was junior and senior class president. I hosted a bunch of assemblies at my school, and gave a speech at graduation. I suppose you could say I had finally found my footing!

2. What were your favorite past times?
My sports and clubs kept me pretty busy, but my friends and I usually drove around our town and hung out at Denny's (eww) and various restaurants. Our football team did really well during our senior year, so we traveled around the area to all of their games as well!

3. What songs were you obsessed with? (Backstreet Boys anyone?)
HA! I loved Backstreet Boys, but to be perfectly honest, they were really popular when I was in college. Seriously. I really think I'm the oldest blogger on the planet. Anyway, alternative music was pretty popular at the time, so I LOVED Soundgarden, Nirvana, Bush, Oasis - you name it. If they were played on our alternative station in Chicago (Q101), chances are, I loved it.
And my favorite album in high school???

Umm. In junior high, it was the whole "silk shirt" craze. In high school, BANGS. And rolling jeans!

5. Who was your celeb crush?
I doubt anyone remembers him, but I so had a crush on Jonathan Brandis from "Seaquest DSV". "Dawson's Creek" was also popular when I was a senior and who didn't love Joshua Jackson???
Let's be clear, though. I NEVER had a crush on Dawson...
6. What were your favorite tv shows/movies?
In addition to the aforementioned television shows, some of my favorites included: Full House, Saved By the Bell, Boy Meets World, ER (the Dr. Doug Ross years, of course!), Felicity, Seinfeld, Friends, PARTY OF FIVE (I love you, Matthew Fox!), and of course, 90210!

ReplyDeleteAlanis was my CD...Backstreet Boys started in junior for us (they first started in Europe actually, which is odd to think of it that way!), but Alanis...that was my high school sound!
And really, even today I don't like Dawson. lol. I was and always will be a Pacey's girl. ;) I'm not gonna get into the tv shows because it would get awkward. I'm telling you, we are twins despite the few days between us. hahahahaha.

Haha, I had glasses too and played the flute. I got rid of the glasses in fifth grade though. I definitely didn't play in band in high school!

ReplyDeleteI think I am older than you, so don't feel badly. I went to middle school in England and on an Air Force base - there were only 17 kids in my entire grade. And most US music/TV/styles didn't really make it overseas. I remember rolling my jeans though and wearing big, baggy t-shirts. And I had bangs. I was super cool, as you can tell. Oh, and I had glasses that I thought were awesome but were HORRIBLE.

oh man Seaquest...I forgot about that! so good. I once thought I was the oldest blogger ever because when I recently did some posting on my wedding I realized we didn't have a digital camera back then! LOL! I was in 7th grade when Soundgarden was big, but oh man I remember that! It was so cool and alternative and we secretly listened to it and thought we were super cool.
