Top 5 Thursday - The Carrie Bradshaw Edition

Before I begin - I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for your kind words of support and advice concerning my Europe trip. You are all so gracious and helpful - and I feel ready to tackle a new continent with your words of wisdom. You rock:)

I know I'm not the only one who is thrilled for the return of "Sex and the City" on the big screen! My girlfriends and I are ready to go - we've picked the date, planned the party and are eagerly awaiting the return of cosmos and couture - and Carrie, of course:)

I've always been a huge fan of the show, and I am just as guilty as the next stiletto-clad twenty-something when I say that I have taken several quizzes to find out which character I relate most to (any guesses???) and secretly desire Carrie Bradshaw's sense of style and wit. I've always been hooked! Therefore, I decided that this week's top 5 list would be an homage to the sassy Manhattan ladies as we dive into:

Your Top 5 Favorite SATC Moments

5.) The Wedding Where No One Participates in the Bouquet Toss (Season 2) - also used as a promo for TBS re-runs:)

I desperately tried to find a picture of this, but it's the episode where Carrie and the gals attend the wedding of one of Miranda's friends, and the bouquet lands right at their feet - and then they all decide to split. Yes? Anyway, this moment for me totally encapsulates the attitude of a no-nonsense single gal, and resonates with me because I despise these wedding traditions too.

4.) Carrie and Big's First Meeting - Where She Asks If He's Ever Been in Love (Season 1)

And his response? "Abso-fucking-lutely". Classic. Because even a business tycoon is capable of love.

P.S. Isn't her hair just priceless in season 1???

3.) The BBQ on Samantha's Rooftop With the "New Neighbors" (Season 3)

For some reason, this was one of my favorite episodes. I'm not sure if it had to do with the transvestites throwing eggs at Samantha's window, or that fact that she had a killer loft, but I DO know that I absolutely LOVED the ending - despite all of the Big/Carrie/Aidan drama - the girls still found solace in one another.

2.) Carrie's Runway Debut (Season 4)

Sure, she wore jeweled underwear (I hate the word "panties") and became fashion roadkill by Heidi Klum, but she got up, brushed herself off, and kept going - which, to me, was bigger than Dolce & Gabana. It was life.

1.) Carrie and Big in Paris (Season 6)

It was THE moment we had all waited for. Carrie was "the one". Am I the only one who cried???

Yet, my favorite moment of the episode were the very last lines:

“Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.”

Le sigh. What were some of your favorite SATC moments?

  1. Sadly, I have no comment. I have not seen one single episode of SATC. Can you believe it?!

  2. Definitely Carrie and Big in Paris. I definitely cried.

And I adore the first movie. I always cry when she hits him with the flowers and at the end when she's talking about love and friendship.

Ugh, cannot WAIT for the 2nd movie!

  3. great carrie moments!

    - i laughed so hard at charlotte's "up the butt girl" episode

    - steve with the tampon up his nose juxtaposed with a shirtless blair underwood - hilarious and delicious at the same time

  4. I love the episode where Miranda has Brady and Big leaves for Napa. Carrie finds the plane ticket he left for her while Moon River plays in the background...SIGH. And then when Aidan and Carrie break up for good and she goes and sleeps with him on the floor of the apartment one last time...Guess I'm a sucker or the bittersweet!

  9. Love Sex in the City so much. My best friend and I always used to watch it at her apartment cos her flatmate at the time had the whole series on dvd. I have such good memories being hungover in her apartment watching Carrie and the girls. I think I might have to rent the set when my uni break finally rolls around.

  10. I can't for the second movie! All this talk about SATC makes me wanna watch the movie again, though I doubt my husband will give up the TV and the soccer game for me to watch the movie!

  12. I just re-watched the entire series. I was surprised at how I've changed into a Miranda-Charlotte person from my former Carrie-Miranda self. That being said though, my most favorite moment ever is when we find out Big's real name. I thought it was the most perfect ending to the series and, not gonna lie, kind of hated the movie. But will still definitely see the second one. In the theater. The day it opens.

  15. Words can't even describe how much I adore S&TC! I LOVED the wedding episode, when they all casually walk away from the bouquet. Hilarious! I can't agree on #1 though... I never thought Carrie and Big should be together. He put her through too much shit to be "the one." She should've stuck with Aiden!
