All the FALL THINGS!

On Saturday, Mike and I had plans to visit County Line Orchard with his couin Matt, his lovely wife (and my hair stylist!) Michelle, and their adorable daughter, Grace.  It was such a perfect fall day - temps were below 70 degrees, which meant I totally had the opportunity to break out the boots!

Anyway, even though we probably should have been packing, we agreed that we needed a day of "fun" - plus, we love to hang with Matt, Michelle and Grace, so it was a win-win!

(BTW, I have pics of them - and OMG, Grace the most adorable child ever - but I don't think it's right to post photos of other people's children without permission.  Sorry!)

County Line Orchard is in Hobart, Indiana, which is roughly 45 minutes from downtown Chicago (where we live).  The primary reason to visit is to pick apples, but they have so much to offer:  a general store (with PUMPKIN DONUTS!), a restaurant, a children's farm and a corn maze.

When we arrived, we started in the orchard for some apple-picking!

Mike has recently lost some weight.  I'm basically gaining everything that he is losing:) The 33-week belly is in full force!

I made him pose with his apples.  I don't think he's thrilled about this.

Golden Delicious apples (my fave!) FOR THE WIN!

Impromptu "family photo".  It was a struggle to get back up:)

And OMG.  There were GOATS.  LOTS of them!  AND, you can feed them!

Our little fall day was a perfect distraction from all of the craziness going on in our lives right now, and I am so glad we decided to go!

What are you loving about fall right now???

  1. This is the perfect fall day!! When we lived in CA we went to the apple orchards each fall and I really want to go this year but I'm not sure if there's anything close to us. I love picking our own apples!

  8. How fun! I've always wanted to go apple picking. And enjoying a pumpkin donut AND see goats along with it? Sounds like perfection!

Mike looks great! That weight loss is working good for him :)

  9. My running trail becomes overrun by illegal campers in the summer. They leave trash, have aggressive dogs, and are sometimes aggressive themselves. Fall means the rain returns and it usually gets them to move somewhere else. Then I get my trail back.

  13. Fun! I love apple picking. Sadly all the orchards around here seemed to have shut down. Need to get those Honey Crisps before they're out of season!

  15. Awesome. I'm so jealous! We've been having 'fall' weather now the past few days and it makes me want to apple pick. I'm enjoying pumpkin spiced lattes in the meantime ;)! Btw, that baby bump gets more adorable every time I see it!

  16. Looks like a fun time, can't wait to try apple picking myself! Love your family photo, so cute! You guys should check out Richardson's Farms next year up in Spring Grove. They have the largest corn maze and tons of stuff for families. That's our fall tradition.
