Internet Workout Buddies!

You guys.  When it comes to meeting up with and working out with bloggers, I am now 3/3!  You read about my adventures last weekend with Sierra of "Posh Meets Pavement" (and I still can't believe we don't have a photo to prove it).  On Friday, I had the opportunity to hang with Kim (of ilaxSTUDIO) and we had a blast!

Over the past few months, Kim and I realized that through our blogs, we have tons in common - including our deep love for all things NYC.  We met at the ZOOMA events last year, but never really got to know one another.

On Friday, we decided to meet up for a killer Shred415 class and lunch at Pick Me Up Cafe (my new favorite place - I am neither vegan nor vegetarian...).

(Yes, my workout shirt is from 2008.  I LOVE IT.)

It was so great to meet up with Kim and get to know her.  We had lots to chat about and I cannot wait to hang again soon.  She is truly a sweetheart!

I also had the chance to meet some more bloggers on Saturday!  I was signed up for the Punk the Monk 5K trail race with my friend Sarah, and wouldn't you know...

Kelsey of "Ready Set Feast" was there, too!  (And yes, I give all credit to Sierra for setting us up!)  I was blown away by her post on running last week and we seem to have lots in common.  Seriously.  WHAT A DOLL.

(Side note:  I look stoned.  I was really just cold.  And those eye thingies, which I THOUGHT were badass, really itched my skin.  FAIL.)

So, if you've learned anything from this post, it's that: Chicago bloggers = pure awesomeness!  I'm usually pretty awkward in large groups, which is why I tend to stay away from larger meet-ups.  But the ability to get to know a few bloggers one-on-one has been a great experience!

Have you met up with bloggers in your city before???

  2. I was Kim's other work-out date on Friday, so we could probably start a Kim-love post here :)

I do think now that you know a few bloggers, you should try to come out to a bigger event! I never would have, but Kim convinced me to go to the holiday meet-up last year (and promised to talk to me if I didn't have anyone else to talk to) and it was SO FUN! And admittedly, I think a lot of us may be a little quiet in bigger group settings, but at the last run, once the beer came out, no one was quiet :)

I hope it works out for us again soon! What other kick-arse workouts might you take me to?! :)

Oh! And to answer your question at the end, most of my irl friends are bloggers. I am always trying to meet up with people! :)

  5. Well usually our bigger blogger meet-ups are pretty awkward, so you'd be in good company.

  6. Did those eye thingies at least help a little with the glare? Or would big sunglasses work better?

  10. I've met one Chi-town blogger: YOU! YOU'RE FAB! I also love that I got connected with Kim by you because I live in Astoria!!! I have met COUNTLESS of NYC bloggers, it's quite amazing actually. Two have become constant run partners, a few close friends, and one just offered to pace me in my sub-2 hour half marathon! Love it!
