A Little Bit About Me!

Hi friends!  So, I was nominated for the Liebster Blog Award by Sofia over at The Brewery, as well as Katie over at Live Half Full. Thanks, ladies!  Even though there are rules, I am going to break them and tell anyone to play along! (Hope this is ok - I just had a lot of fun with these questions!)

From Sofia:

1. If you could do an interview with any person, alive or dead, who would it be and why?

Hmm.  Honestly, this is a tough one.  Currently, I'd love to interview President Obama.  I just cannot imagine the pressure that this man is under.  Historically, I'd be all over Abraham Lincoln.

2. What is your favorite TV show?

So many to choose from!  Currently, I love GIRLS, Shameless, Revenge, SMASH and Mad Men.  However, my all-time favorite?  LOST.

3. Why do you have a blog?

This is an excellent question, as I wonder the exact same thing every single day.  I started this blog because I loved to write, and it served as a creative outlet.  And while blogging has brought me some amazing opportunities (and people!), I sometimes wonder why I even bother.  I don't feel like I "fit in" to the blogosphere most of the time.

4. Who do people tell you you look like?

Honestly?  No one.  Wait, I lied.  One of my students said I reminded him of Miley Cyrus.  Another said Emma Stone.  HA!  I'll take Emma.

Yep.  TOTALLY twins.

5. What is your biggest pet peeve?

Arrogance.  Listen.  If you're smart / talented / motivated / etc., PEOPLE CAN TELL.  WE ALREADY KNOW.  You don't have to tell us twenty times.  You see, I've always been one to keep my mouth shut.  I've just never been the type of person to brag about accomplishments, butt into conversations so everyone could see how much I know, etc.  Therefore, I have a hard time understanding those who feel the need to do so.

6. If you could re-live high school, what would you do differently, if anything?

I had a pretty amazing high school experience.  I was really involved, had a great circle of friends and graduated with honors.  However, despite all of that,  I cared WAY too much about what people thought of me.  I suppose if I could re-live my experience, I'd care a little less:)

7. What is your favorite characteristic about yourself?

Hmm. I suppose I like my sense of humor, though I am sure not everyone finds me funny.  Plus, if you know me REALLY well, then I can be pretty goofy.  I don't think I take myself too seriously.

8. What is your least favorite characteristic about yourself?

I worry.  And I am impatient.  Basically, I need to learn how to relax.

9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

NYC.  Hands down.  You all know this.

10. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

"People don't care about how much you know, until they know how much you care."  This summarizes my teaching to a T.

11. If your house was on fire, and you could only grab three things (not people or pets) on the way out, what would they be?

My wedding album.  My running shoes.  A box of letters and cards.

Now, for Katie's questions:

1. What’s your biggest goal for 2013?

To complete the 2013 Chicago Marathon!

2. What’s your favorite way to relieve stress?

A long run, a hot shower, and couch time with my husband

3. What’s your favorite beer? (or drink)

I'm not a beer drinker, but I love me some red wine - malbec, in particular!

4. Workouts-morning or night?

On the weekends?  Definitely in the AM!  But during the week, I usually don't have time, so I fit them in at night.

5. What’s your biggest motivator?

This is an excellent question, and I am not sure how to answer.  I suppose I am motivated by others around me.  My husband motivates me to reach for my dreams.  My parents motivate me to live a more Christian life.

6. What type of blog topics would you like to read about more on Live Half Full?

Katie does an awesome job of balancing topics.  I love reading about her fitness goals and recipes.

7. What’s your favorite season and why?

Summer.  I mean, who wouldn't love not working???  And eating outside?

8. Any fun trips planned for 2013?

So far, just NYC - NEXT WEEK!  HOLLA!

9. What’s your favorite current Television show?

See above!  :)

10. Do you celebrate anniversaries with your significant other?

We usually go out to dinner, but we don't buy each other gifts.  One, we're "experiences" people, not "things" people.  Two, we love the Chicago restaurant scene.  Three, if we really want something, we just go buy it anyway.

11. Do you cook dinner ever night?

Umm...never!  My husband does, though!  He's an amazing cook!

Would you like to play along???  Feel free to copy the questions!

  1. My husband and I are the same on gifts. We get each other something little otherwise our focus is going out to eat. Pre children we would try to do weekend getaways which I appreciated wayyyyyy more than a gift.

    Rock on Emma Stone!

  7. Why do you think you don't fit in the blogging world? You don't have to be the same as other people. That would be boring! Like reading the same blog over and over.

  12. Yes to your biggest pet peeve. One of mine too. Those people generally want to argue all the time too. I just... don't want every conversation to be a debate!

We are currently trying to watch Revenge ;)

P.S. I don't feel like I fit in with the blogosphere either. But... I think that is ok.
