2008.

Since 2009 officially begins tomorrow (with going back to school and what not), I figured I'd bid 2008 a proper adieu. It was a great year, albeit somewhat quiet, but with the big day approaching quickly (less than 7 months away), I have a feeling 2008 was the calm before the storm.

It did, however, have its moments:

* I spent several weekends on mini-vacays with great friends, lots of wine, and somewhat violent games of Scrabble. And I realized that skiing is lame and I would much rather read Tori Spelling's autobiography instead of fall on my ass. Thank you to Christy, the resident travel agent / goddess of cabining, for planning these weekends of debauchery.

* I canoed 15 miles on some river in Indiana where I witnessed a 12 pack of Tecate and some carrots float down the river, pterodactyl mating calls, fat people in tubes, and an unexpected love connection.

* Mikey and I made the big decision to save some benjamins and move apart from one another - out of the city we love and into the burbs, where we currently live 90 miles apart. I was welcomed back to TP with loving arms and a Swiffer with my name on it. It's definitely had its ups and downs, but I'm rich and my mom makes my lunch. Snap.

* Speaking of Mikey - we made major strides in our wedding planning and have created a day that is truly OURS. We're really proud of the colorful, contemporary, personal touches we've made to the big day. And if that's not enough, there will be the most amazing slices of heaven in the form of cupcakes available to each and every one of you.

* I celebrated my golden birthday with fabulous dinners at Enoteca Roma and Angels & Mariachis, followed by Swirlz cupcakes (see above), and drinks at Innjoy and Easy Bar, which turned into the Fifty/50, which turned into Nick's Beer Garden, which turned into Kingston Mines.

* I took on new classes and positions at school and continue to teach the most remarkable students. I am truly blessed.

* I discovered that a.) I DO want a dog (thanks to Greg and Kim), b.) I DO want to move back to the city, and c.) I DO maybe, sorta, kinda want kids someday.

I have a feeling 2009 will be even better:)
