Top 5 Thursdays - Obsessed Much?

Happy Thursday!  I hope everyone has had a wonderful week and is geared up for the weekend!  Mine should be pretty incredible - if not, then I am definitely doing something wrong.  For starters, I don't have to work on Friday.  Can I get an AMEN?  I hope to fill the day with my weekly long run, a pedicure, new running shoes, and a wine-tasting event in the evening.  The rest of the weekend?  ZERO PLANS!  Yet, I am beyond thrilled.  I have no idea what is in store, but I plan to take full advantage.

I have to admit that I struggled for a Top 5 Thursdays topic this week, simply because my week as a whole has been fairly quiet and I have felt a little "blah".  The inspiration is at a minimum.  But I am always loving something, so I figured that I could turn my consistency into a list.

My Top 5 Current Obsessions

5.) "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga

I don't care how many times I hear the song - it's MY JAM!  Whenever it pops up on a run, I am instantly fired up and increase my speed - all while trying to gracefully dance at the same time.  It's so empowering!

4.) "Bethenny Ever After".  My girl is BACK and I couldn't be happier.  I love her sassy, smart-mouthed commentary on life, love, marriage and motherhood.

BETHENNY-FRANKEL-AND-BRYN

Is that baby perfection or what???

3.)  Redfin - a real estate website.  I won't go into too much detail here (let the rumors fly!), but looking at new homes = happy Meghan.

2.)  My new shoes.  I'll be honest - they were a very cheap impulse purchase, and I am not quite sure how many ways I can wear them, but I am excited nonetheless.

Yes, that is my classroom.  And yes, that is the picture frame that I have had all year that is STILL without two photos.  Le sigh.

1.)  People with manners.  This last one might be strange, but there are three types of people in this world that make me want to stick a pen in my eye:  those who are too emotionally attached to professional sports, those who do not RSVP to events, and John Mayer.  The one that really has me fired up lately is the lack of communication.  How do you not know what you have going on in a week?  Do you need to check with your personal assistant? If you don't want to come, respond with a "NO".  If you do, "YES".  And if you are uncertain, at least have the decency to let the host know that you have received the invite, need to check a few things, and will respond in a timely manner.  Please do not get me wrong - I am not perfect myself,  and I promise that in the grand scheme of things, I do not let these people ruin my day.  But I do appreciate those who are courteous:)

  1. Amen on the manners and courteous communication! I concur... Although I did space out on a commitment this week and have to be reminded (I blame the pregnancy brain)...

  2. I blame nothing. Sometimes I just forget to RSVP and I get so upset with myself. I get too busy and think, "that can happen later" and well, it falls by the way way side.

I adore your cheap, impulse purchase and want those shoes now!

  3. PS - i am kind of on the fence about Bethanny. Her baby is cute in a itty bitty my head it tiny kinda way. Yes, I said it. I am jealous she got pregnant when she least expected it. BAH!

Love Lady Gaga. Did you see her new body?

  4. Ooh, what wonderful things to be obsessed with right now! I just moved into my first house and so that is definitely what I'm obsessed with currently!!

  5. I am with Summer in that I sometimes look at the email and then I need to get back to it. Most of my friends and I are really good at RSVPing and being early/on time to everything. It is a pet peeve of mine, too because I have friends that either never RSVP, or are always late to everything.

    Its almost Friday!!

  6. I could not agree more on the John Mayer thing! Him and his fat tongue can go... well, um, insert your own slur or politically incorrect phrase here.

Love real estate blogs. I call it "house porn".

  8. I can definitely say I am guilty as charged, but only in one way. I haven't yet decided to take "Facebook" event invites seriously. I don't think my local friends do either (unless they are hosting an event). Sometimes I think mass guest lists are created without thought even.

All other invites: email, evite, snail mail, text...always respond quickly.

    Is it just me?

P.S. I think a whole post on manners would be great! There was a woman clipping her fingernails next to me at the airport in Kauai! It took all of my strength to not say something.

  12. Love Bethenny! I'm watching it right now. I also love how you said that one of the things that makes you want to poke your eye out is John Mayer. I don't agree with you, but it's still completely hilarious! :)

  14. Sounds like you have a fab weekend ahead of you :) Lucky you for no work tomorrow :) Congrats on looking at new homes!!! Super excited for you even without knowing all the details :) Loving your new shoes! Speaking of which - let me know what kind of running shoes you go with - I'm in the market for some new ones and would be interested in what you get. For the last year I've ran in Asics and I love them! But always love hearing other's suggestions :) I have never watched any of the Real Housewives shows, but I will agree with you on John Mayer. Can't stand the man at all!!! There's prob one song of his that I even like, other than that I don't get what all the hype is all about!

I am currently obsessed with Matt Bomer aka Neal Caffrey on the TV show "White Collar" - he's literally all I think about haha I need help I know :)

  16. I totally feel you on the manners thing, haha! Though I have to admit I am TOTALLY too emotionally invested in the Packers...which must be especially annoying for a Bears fan ;). I HOPE YOU'RE BUYING A NEW HOUSE! So exciting!

  18. I am totally with you on abhorring people without manners . . . however, I think you'd think I was mannerless! I'm pretty attached to my Saints. Fortunately, I don't feel that way about any other sport (or team). Secondly, I can be wishy washy with plans. Right now I'm teaching full time, babysitting at least 4 evenings/weekend days per week, and volunteer teaching one night a week at San Quentin. Plus, I'm working on a huge manuscript for a book project that's due like yesterday. So I have such a hard time committing to things! Something will sound so fun, but because I have like 4 hours of free time per week, I have no idea if I'm just going to be TOO EXHAUSTED to go. You know what I mean? I guess I need to get better about that.

But I'm big on traditional manners. Makes me crazy when I let a car into my lane in traffic and they don't wave at me. And people who don't pull over for funerals, say thank you, etc. MANNERS, fools!

  21. Love these obsessions. Especially the people with manners. I get comments all the time about how well mannered I am... my thought is everyone should be this respectful. It's not hard to say excuse me when you pump into someone or thank someone who helped you. It's just nice!

  23. Your Friday sounds great and I hope it was just as wonderful as you described!

Born This Way is a fantastic song. I love Gaga no matter how cray cray she is.

I DVR’d Bethenny, but I haven’t watched it yet. She is awesome.

Yay for looking at houses and your new shoes are really cute!

Amen to #1 and I have to agree with all 3. I get that people are busy these days, but seriously. It’s just rude to leave people hanging. I thought I was the only one that didn’t like John Mayer.

  28. I remember Bethenny from when she was on The Apprentice. I haven't seen her on anything since then, but have heard that she's on that real housewives show. I didn't like her on The Apprentice, so I am not sure how I'd like her on this.

  29. I am loving Bethenny Ever After too! Little Brynn is precious!
