Weekend Update.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I want to thank everyone for their good wishes and vibes - last week was ROUGH, but there's nothing like a little weekend fun (and my mama coming home from the hospital, yay!) to put this homegirl in the holiday spirit!

The weekend started out with my hubby's 30th birthday dinner at Alinea, which is supposedly the #7 restaurant in the country (or something like that). It was an experience unlike any I've ever had. Fine dining at it's, well, finest:) And because we're classy and we love food, well, we decided to take as many pictures as possible (very covertly, of course) of our 12-course meal.

One of my favorites - the pork belly! Just when you thought you hit each layer of the dish, a new flavor presented itself:

Who would've thought a pureed mushroom could look (and taste) so good???

After a scrumptious meal, we celebrated the other love of my life's 30th birthday - my dear friend Christy. Who had KARAOKE at her party. Aces!

There are also several pictures of me singing as well - my "Eye of the Tiger" performance caused a bit of a stir, however, I flat out refuse to post them :)

As if good food and good friends weren't enough, we were surprised on Saturday morning by a beautiful hope chest! It was a homemade wedding present from my best friend Danielle and her fiancee, Jeremy.

Isn't it stunning? They made it from scratch!

So yes, loves, even though the week was a total bust, the weekend made up for it with lots of food, wine and laughter. Especially when the hubs and I (well, mostly the hubs) made this beautiful cupcake cake this morning...

...and it fell apart. And is now sitting on the side of a road in downtown Chicago. RIP, cupcake cake.

How was your weekend???

  1. Oh looks like you had a fabulous weekend. The idea of 12 courses at dinner really appeals to me, delicious!
Pity about the cupcake, it looked great while it lasted.
