Bring It.

I haven't always considered myself a runner. In fact, it wasn't until four years ago that I actually started to take my running seriously. I entered a few smaller races and I was HOOKED. Although the starts of races make me incredibly nervous, I love pushing myself to run faster and harder, all while enjoying the concrete jungle that is Chicago. A few summers ago, someone convinced me to run a half marathon. I did so, and was pretty happy with my time of 2 hours and 19 minutes. Even though it was a brutally hot day in August, I remember feeling so inspired when I saw familiar faces along the route, and I never stopped. Not ONCE. I couldn't believe it.

Therefore, I had it in my head that I could complete a marathon. Until I developed a stress fracture in my ankle. Then, the following summer, I started a training program again, only to be completely bogged down with work and personal issues. So I quit. Less than two months before. And now, in a loving manner, my friends refer to me as the girl who trains for, but never actually completes, marathons. Oh yeah?

Well after last Sunday's Chicago Marathon, I AM READY. I am tired of watching on the side lines (although I LOVED cheering for one of my best friends, Julie). Seriously though. GET OUT OF MY WAY. 26.2 miles, I am coming after you (although not as fast as the Kenyans will). Get ready.

Who's with me???

  3. I trained for one once when I was living in D.C....A few months into our training the snipers hit the area and most of us quit for safety's sake. Fast forward a few years and I now have a bum knee. Boo. But, I'm happy to cheer you on! Run for me and my bum knee. Ah ha
