Layla: 7 Month Update

Hi folks!  Time for another Layla update!

Layla is: 7 months and 2 days old

Weight: (As of 5/13) 17 lbs., 4 oz. (This puts her in the 75th percentile.)

Height: (As of 5/13) 27.5 inches (This puts her in the 91st percentile.)

Clothing:  Still 9 and 12 month outfits!

Nicknames: (Same as last time!) I have NO idea how this started, but we call her our "little bean", which has also carried over into calling her "Layla Bean".  Honestly, this should have just been her middle name all along.

Health/Diet:  Still a combination of breast milk, formula and solids.  I am so happy that we're still breastfeeding at 7 months.  I don't have an overabundant
supply, unfortunately, but since I am home for the summer, I am trying to nurse as much as possible, as well as freeze milk for the next school year.

(Post "nursies"!)

As for solids - this kid would eat all.day.long if we let her.  She honestly loves everything: sweet potatos, avocado, carrots, bananas and green beans.  We puree everything (and by "we", I mean Mike).

(This kid LOVES to be outside!)

Sleep:  Still good!  Layla continues to take 3 naps during the day, and is usually in bed for the night between 7:00-8:00.  On a typical night, we don't hear from her until about 5:00 a.m. or so (and then she goes back down for another hour or two).  However, if she's teething, or hasn't napped well, things might be different, but overall, I think 9-10 hours of sleep is pretty good.  I know people place a lot of emphasis on "sleeping through the night" but waking once here or there doesn't really bother me.

Milestones:  Where do I even begin?  Besides the solid foods, Layla now sits on her own without assistance.  She also "army crawls" and scoots around the living room!  She is SO determined when she does it, too.  We also started a swim class!

(Oddly enough, she also loves grass…)

Likes:  Much of the same:  activity mat, jumperoo, going for walks, large crowds of people (She LOVES new faces and will pretty much smile for anyone), swimming, and swinging at the park.

Dislikes:  Teething (This is a major dislike for me, too), and when there's no more food left:(

(See?  It's not always rainbows and sunshine. This sad face was cutting a tooth…)

We cannot believe how much she has grown in just one month!  I always hear that 6-9 months is such a fun time, and I have to agree.  I love watching this little lady grow!

  1. She's doing so good! James won't even try to scoot haha. I don't mind being up once or twice at night either although it does make for a tired mom after a few days :) I know he can sleep through the night but teething is just hard! That's so cute you all are doing a swim class!

  4. That kid is the cutest. I can't even...if my kids are even half as cute as Miss Layla, I'd be one lucky gal.
