TV Time!

Since I've been on maternity leave, I've been able to catch up with some reading and television (I mean, it's not like I have dinner reservations at hot new restaurants anymore).  It's been easy to do, with late night nursing sessions and the addition of Roku boxes in our house.  So, I thought I'd share some of the new shows I've encountered:

* Scandal

I get it.  It's not "new", per se, but it's new to me.  Mike and I flew through all three seasons in a few short weeks, and OMG.  I am obsessed.  I am definitely Team Fitz (Go away, Jake!) and like everyone else on the planet, I'd kill for Olivia Pope's wardrobe.  Plus, I think it's fun that the cast is so active on social media, so I feel like I actually "know" them.

I'm insane, right?

Oh, and Michelle Obama just admitted to binge-watching Scandal, too.

* House of Lies

House of Lies

What gets me about this show is that Don Cheadle gets SO MUCH ASS.  I mean, he's Don Cheadle.  I don't think "sexy" - I think "Hotel Rwanda".  But whatever.  I digress.  The chemistry between his character and Kristen Bell is pretty remarkable, and it's just twisted enough to keep my attention.

(BTW, "House of Lies" is about management consultants.  It's on Showtime, so there is an ample amount of language and nudity.)

* Trophy Wife

This is one of those shows that I watch on the treadmill.  Bradley Whitford is married to his third wife, played by Malin Akerman, and it's certainly not the best show I've ever seen, but it holds my attention.  Plus, it's BRADLEY WHITFORD.  Josh Lyman can do no wrong in my eyes.

* The Blacklist

Mike and I only started watching this show because we're huge James Spader fans.  He plays a criminal that helps the FBI capture some of their most wanted suspects.  It's completely unrealistic, but Spader is fantastic, and the cases are super creepy.

* Banshee

This one I can take or leave, but Mike and I have run out of new shows.  "Banshee" is about a man who was recently released from prison, and he becomes sheriff of a small town.  The catch?  He's actually not the "real" sheriff, and his former partner/lover has started over in the same town.

Warning:  LOTS of violence and nudity

Anyway, these are all shows we've discovered in addition to our usual rotation of New Girl, The Mindy Project, Parenthood, Modern Family, Chicago Fire, and my new favorite, Chicago PD (Umm, Brooke Davis is a COP, y'all).

Any shows you recommend I'd check out?  What's your favorite these days?

  2. I love that you referenced both Brooke Davis AND Josh Lyman in this post. :)

    Rescue Me is a really good one to binge on if you haven't seen it. There is a little bit of everything in it- one of my absolute favorites.

  3. My mom and I just recently became addicted to Scandal! Such a good show! You have to tell me though where I can find season three??? On my netflix and on demand it only shows the last five episodes...and from I can tell there were ten? We're trying to get caught up for the season premiere!

  4. LOVE Scandal and will always be Team Fitz! I love when they live tweet! Also I really like trophy wife. It is not the best show, but pretty entertaining. However this past few weeks I watched Billy madison and now re-see Bradley Whitford in a whole different way lol.

  6. I haven't seen any of those shows and have only heard of Scandal - where have I been??? I love Parenthood though! And NCIS! I am currently watching Quantum Leap which is a show of the 80s, so it's not new by any means. People love Orange is the New Black and I just saw Laverne Cox at a conference and she was AMAZING.

  7. I've never even seen any of these (I've heard of a lot of them though)! The only one I would probably want to watch is the Blacklist, but we are so behind on our DVR anyway that it's impossible to add more shows.

  8. I've never heard of Trophy Wife but I love Bradley Whitford. Did you ever see him in Studio 60?? Meanwhile, I watched Scandal over the summer/fall and love it now!

  9. My husband is dying for me to watch Banshee. He swears it's the best show after Breaking Bad. I just don't have time to start anything new right now. The last show I binge watched was Orange Is the New Black. I loved it.

    Love The Blacklist because Spader is a genius. And Scandal is amazing! I binge watched it last summer and caught up at the end of last season. I'm Team Fitz, but I love me some Jake too.

  11. I guess I wish I could watch most of these shows, but I don't have cable. I haven't ever seen the Soprano's. Looks like I need to start doing some Blu Ray shopping on Amazon! :)

  13. OMFG Scandal. I am SO team Fitz. Seriously, the chemistry between those two is OFF THE CHARTS. I can't handle it. I can't. It's so so good.

    I also really love Nashville. The cast chemistry is awesome, I love the storylines, and although I'm not huge into country music I do love the music.

    Oh and Parenthood is an old fav. I cry EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. Seriously.

  15. Scandal is the only show on this list that I watch, but I LOVE it! That, SVU and The Following are the only shows I actually watch every week (now that Hostages is over).

  16. I really wanted to see Chicago PD because I miss Brooke David but I have no idea when the show is on. I used to watch so much TV and now, I think I only watch Grey's and New Girl. I'm trying to watch House of Cards and would like to watch Scandal.
