My First Stitch Fix Shipment!

About a month ago, my dear friend Ashley posted about her Stitch Fix experience.  At first, I thought, "Oh, it's just another one of those subscription boxes...not my thing" - however, since this had to do with clothing, it piqued my interest just enough to do some actual research.  Here's what I found:

* You complete a pretty in-depth style profile online.
* Stitch Fix sends you five items each month based on those parameters.
* You try it all on, and return what you don't want.

So, last week. my first order arrived, and I certainly learned a lot.

* I paid an initial $20 styling fee, which was deducted from my bill after I decided what I wanted to keep.
* All items ranged in price from $40-$98. (This was a little high, but I want to give it a few months and see if it's worth it.)
* The return postage was already paid for.

And to be perfectly honest, I thought the style and quality of the items was pretty close to my taste.

Right off the bat, there were a few items I decided not to keep right away:

(While this sweater was a pretty color, it was sheer. And $98, because it's from Free People.  If I am going to pay that much, I want the whole sweater.)

(Same goes for this top.  Luckily, I was able to request "no sheer" for my next shipment.)

These were the items I seriously considered:

(I thought this was adorable!  This top was perfect with jeans, and fit nicely with my growing belly.)

(I LOVED this wrap bracelet!  I don't have anything like it.)

However, I decided to buy this dress:

(You can't tell, but this sundress comes with a thin belt.  Also, it will fit me with and without a baby belly.)

What do you think?  Did I make the right call?  Have you ever participated in a similar program?

  1. I got a GILT deal for Cake Style - similar idea. $150 for $300 credit. I fear the prices will be outrageous. It may be a one and done. I will let you know!

  4. The dress is perfect! You look great. The top and bracelet are also adorable, I don't understand sheer clothing either honestly. Hopefully your next box is a perfect match :)

  5. Love the dress, think it will be great for you this summer! Bracelet is also fabulous. I definitely would have passed on the two sheer items. I guess sheerness has it place, but not at a high price point in my opinion.

  11. I love Stitch Fix! I have done it a couple of times! The only down side is that I feel like I NEED to keep something every month or I lose my $20.

Now that I've seen you blog about it, I think I'll blog about my next one, too.
