I Look Like a Leper.
As many of you know, I am getting married in 31 days. Yes, you read that correctly, 31 DAYS! As in, a month. As in, it's here and I am starting to freak out about the little details. What if the trolley doesn't show? What if it's so dang hot that my make-up melts off my face? What if? I am sure I can play that game for the next month if I really wanted to, but I am choosing a life of relaxation and fun for the next month so my face isn't covered in zits the day of the wedding (stress makes me break-out and resemble a leper). SO...the point of this nonsensical post is this - for all of you seasoned brides out there - what did YOU do to stay organized? Any tricks of the trade I should know about before I join the old married ladies club? I like to pride myself on organization. In fact, I am working on a bridal party phone tree at the moment, which I think might be a little over the top. Please save this frazzled bride-to-be.

EXCEL SPREADSHEETS! I know this makes me sound like a total dork, but it really did help. For RSVP's, seating arrangements, etc. Not to freak you out, but something probably will go wrong - you just need to remember your sense of humor and laugh it off. If you don't freak out, no one will probably even notice!
ReplyDeleteI hear random sex is good for relaxing. Oh wait, you're getting married. Hmph.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Sarah above. I had one Excel worksheet for everything: invitations, seating chart, gifts, thank you's, etc.
ReplyDeleteBut, I also was married on a beach after a week vacation on said beach.
Get outside, as in out of the house away from computers and nagging lists, AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Enjoy the fresh air, exercise, and know that everything is going to be awesome. The wedding isn't about the details...it's about happiness and love. Years later you don't remember the details as much, you know. Good luck, dear!
Congrats on the upcoming wedding! I got married this past October, so I remember how hectic it can get.
ReplyDeleteI recommend delegating the little things. My bridesmaids took care of the emergency kits (kits with safety pins, pads, tampons, tissues, deodorant, bandaids, mints, stapler, needle and thread, superglue, tylenol), and the personalization of the bathroom (adding handpump soaps that I like the smell of, frames with pics of me and Brian in it, floral decorations, spray in case people stink it up, etc).
I am a big list person too, so I had three lists. One that i kept in my glovebox in the car, one at home, and one at my parent's place - that way if I ever forgot it, it would be in the car anyway.
Another tidbit, unrelated to organization. For the garter toss - don't wear your garter the whole day, just put it on a few minutes before the toss. That way it won't be all sweaty from being worn all day. My friend gave me this advice and it was a great tip!
