Ugh. Here's why:
We closed on our house on September 26th and moved in two days later. We knew that we wanted to extend the already beautiful hardwood floors in our living/dining area into the kitchen. Plus, the carpeting upstairs (specifically in the baby's room) needed to be replaced, so we decided to just replace everything upstairs with hardwood floors. We ended up working with two different companies, and while the upstairs is finally complete, the downstairs has yet to be stained.
So, basically:
* All of the baby's stuff (furniture, clothes, etc) is currently being stored in our "4th bedroom" (it's an unofficial bedroom in our basement). I'm almost 38 weeks pregnant and NOTHING is ready. Except for my hospital bag (including her items) and her car seat.
* Because we also plan on painting, we haven't moved into the master bedroom, so we're currently sleeping in our basement.
* My dresser is in the guest bathroom, and my wine cabinet is in the middle of my kitchen. The headboard and frame to my bed is in the hallway. And my super bomb-ass vintage coffee bar (OMG, I die!) is in my garage.
While life should resume normalcy next week, I can't say I'm not totally freaking out:) We have a ton of new furniture being delivered next week and we should be able to get started on the baby's room. But sweet Jesus, I could go for some wine right now.
Oh, and I tried to make things better by adding a pumpkin to our front porch. #epicfail
(If you want to get me a housewarming present, consider a ginormous pumpkin...)
Because my husband often reminds me that we're pretty lucky people, and that we really have accomplished a lot, I WILL say that I am certainly enjoying the following about life right now:
* My ten minute commute to work. Seriously. The quality of my life has increased exponentially.
* Going for long walks with my dad every day. It feels great to stay active, and at this point, I've heard that walking helps with the labor process (though I certainly don't want this lovely little lady to make an early appearance if I can help it)!

* Having a functioning dishwasher and washer/dryer.
* The crisp fall weather. Granted, my kitchen is a mess so I can't really bake, but I've got a pumpkin bread recipe that I am itching to try!
* And of course, I am super grateful that at this stage in my pregnancy, I still feel pretty awesome and as far as we know, everything looks good!
So, yeah. That's the update. Until I have a completed room in my house, or a baby, to share with you, you can expect that things will probably be pretty quiet here on the blog:)
Sounds like everything is going well to me! She probably won't use the nursery for a little while anyway and it's definitely better to do all of the house stuff like floors and painting before you get to settled! I am dying over that adorable bump!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, is that last picture really YOUR sidewalk?? Let's add to the list that you're lucky to live in a place with such gorgeous fall foliage! And good luck getting the house ready; I'm sure everything will happen in time. :)
ReplyDeleteHang in there, you will make it through! Maybe more walking and less time in the house will keep you sane! That would drive me CRAZY and I think you're doing a great job despite everything going on.
ReplyDeleteThat picture of the pumpkin is so adorably funny!
ReplyDeleteWhen are you going on maternity leave? You made it to 38 weeks! Everything will be great whenever she arrives!
ReplyDelete38 weeks! Whoop Whoop! Everything will fall into place and it'll all work out. Enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI'll admit I'd be pretty stressed if I couldn't get everything situated in the first day. We switched bedrooms and ours is still kind of not perfect and it stressed me out.
ReplyDeleteStill, you'll get it done. Pretty sure you have more important thing to worry about, like having that baby so I can know what her name is ;-)
I would be a bit stressed if I was you. And I love the picture of your pumpkin, that made me laugh:)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that things are a little less stressful soon! I'm glad you are still thinking of the good things going on, and soon you will have a baby!! :)
ReplyDeleteEeek! I would be a little bit stressed. I'm a bit of a perfectonistic, so I would want everything finished right away. I'm sure everything will work out!
ReplyDeleteMeg, Michelle and I would love to come help you! I'm sure Matt too...I feel for you as we would be freaking out too! You name the day and we will be there to help! hugs, karen
ReplyDeleteMy husband was looking over my shoulder when I was reading this. He saw your belly and running shoe photo and asked "What's wrong with her camera?" I told him that's your baby belly and he got embarrassed and left the room. :)
ReplyDeleteI have faith! It'll all come together. Hang in there girl! Email me your new address, I want to send you and baby something!
ReplyDeleteYou are adorable...man I LOVE that belly/shoe picture!!!! Lots of time to settle friend...don't be so hard on yourself! Pretty soon NONE of that will matter. LOVE the pumpkin, too! ha ha
ReplyDeleteYou're awesome for taking on all that right before the baby. I'd be totally stressed out, too. Take a deep breath, it will all get done!
ReplyDeleteBahahaha the little porch pumpkin. So sad. Don't worry, all babies really need for a room is a place to sleep. The rest is extra!! And even that doesn't need to be a crib right away.
