Yet Another NYC Re-Cap, Part 1

Well, friends, my mother-in-law and I returned from New York on Monday morning.  By Tuesday morning, I was already plotting yet another visit.  I believe my exact words to my husband were, "We can go back to New York in December!  Flights are cheap!  And you can attend your photography workshop!"

To which he replied, "Honey, I don't think it's really smart to plan yet another trip to New York TEN DAYS BEFORE WE LEAVE FOR MAUI."

Point taken.

I'm still obsessed, though.

Anywho, we had a fabulous Labor Day weekend in the Big Apple, and I am excited to share the fun with you.

Friday

We made our way to Midtown on Friday afternoon, and since our room wasn't ready, we decided to enjoy the gorgeous afternoon and enjoy a leisurely lunch at Morrell Wine Bar across from Rockefeller Center.

(I could lunch like this every.single.day.)

From there, we quickly got ready before heading through Times Square for cocktails and dinner.

(Isn't my mother-in-law adorable???  I feel pretty lucky to have a MIL I can travel with without driving me nuts.)

We stumbled across 21 Club in our travels, and actually met a really nice gentleman outside.  He was the driver for the U.S. Open competitors, and after chatting with him, we decided to head in for a cocktail.

Imagine our surprise when we found out that someone's MEMORIAL SERVICE was taking place upstairs.  Oy vey.

Despite the depressing scene, there's nothing quite like a musical to liven up the night.  Seriously, folks.  I like to think that I am well-versed in musicals, and I cannot believe I hadn't seen "Jersey Boys".  It was AMAZING.  Sigh.

I spent my morning in my true happy place - Central Park.  How can you NOT love this???

After a 7-mile jaunt through this gorgeous haven, I picked up my MIL and we started our day!  We actually returned to Central Park for a carriage ride before heading to Little Italy/Chinatown for lunch.

From there, it was on to the Brooklyn Bridge.  I've been to New York several times, and walking across the bridge is something I've always wanted to do.

We ended our day with a fantastic dinner at Union Square Cafe, and called it an early evening.  

Side note:  I will never stay in a hotel that does NOT offer turn-down service.  Seriously.  We returned to the room and found the beds turned down, classical music playing, and beautiful robes and slippers.  Le sigh.
