(This is my adorable sister. She really isn't a sad clown. But I just had to use this picture.)
And more of this:

Therefore, I decided to embrace all that is positive and focus on some upcoming events that I am SO excited to experience.
Chicago Restaurant Week
My husband and I make several reservations every year. It's a fantastic way to take advantage of dining at pricey restaurants for half the cost. Our restaurants this year include David Burke's Primehouse, Perennial Virant and Naha.
BLISSDOM 2012
Yes, I am about to attend my first blogging conference, and I am elated! I am also a little nervous to meet so many new bloggers at once (I can be super awkward), but I've never been to Nashville AND I get to room with these lovely ladies (& Lindsey)!

The OneAmerica Indy Mini-Marathon
The largest half-marathon in the nation, Indianapolis provides a great backdrop for a super fun, flat 13.1 miles. My siblings and I participate every year, and we have a set plan:
Friday Night: Expo and dinner
Saturday AM : RACE
Post-Race: Starbucks, lunch and drinks at Chatham Tap, nap, and more fun in downtown Indy in the evening

Post-Race, 2010

Post-Race, 2011. Notice a pattern? I'm seriously going to work on better race fashion this year.

This year? Our group has doubled in size! Sub-2:00 half, I'm coming for you!
What are YOU looking forward to?
You're going to rock your half! WOOHOO! I wouldn't mind running a generally flat half marathon for once in my life. I'm also jealous that you're going to Blissdom!
ReplyDeleteI agree - you'll do great. Sounds like a lot of really great stuff coming up! Totally jealous about the blogging conference (and I'm awkward too). :)
ReplyDeleteSo jealous you're going to Blissdom... Izzy and I are saving to go on a cruise next year so that's where all my extra money is going =-(
ReplyDeleteI'm in serious need of an attitude adjustment too. Ugh.
ohhh have so much fun at blissdom!! i want to go to a blogger conference someday :) im sure i would be a little intimidated though, i can get shy when meeting people for the first time!
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky I still love you after posting the most awkward turtle picture of me ever. But I love you friend, you have a great attitude but I understand, I have those wah wah wah weeks too. Its ok....dont fret. I cant wait to hang out with you in 3 weeks!!! Wine....food...bloggers....ultimate slumber party!
ReplyDeleteRestaurant Week sounds SO cool!! I had never heard of that before- very awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnd that blogging conference sounds like so much fun!!! I can't wait to hear about it :)
Oh, and I love taking trips to Indianapolis. It's such a fun city!
One of these years I'm going to make it to Chicago for Restaurant Week.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to here about your Blissdom experience. I know so many bloggers who have gone, but am yet to really understand if it's something that would be a good fit for me.
You've got so much fun stuff coming up!
ReplyDeleteI know I say this pretty much every day, but Blissdom is going to be wonderful! It's going to be here so soon!
Haha the picture of that baby just made my day. You have some fun things coming up! Restaurant week sounds so neat!
ReplyDeleteSorry you've been dealing with some hard stuff lately, but I'm glad you have happy things to look forward to as well. :) This past week was Restaurant Week in Oakland, and I didn't even make it to ONE PLACE cause I just wasn't feeling well/was too busy/overrun/etc. We were considering making last minute reservations Saturday night, but I was too seduced by the idea of staying in and playing Mario Brothers and going to bed early. :)
ReplyDeleteSo sweet that you and your sibs run the 1/2 marathon together!
Sorry your January hasn't been the best! I think we're all feeling blah at my work too... Have a blast at restaurant week!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I am dying to go to a blogger conference! Sorry last week sucked :-( I am looking forward to going to LA this weekend! Woohoo! XO
ReplyDeleteI love the positivity Meghan! That's great to make a conscious choice to switch your mood and talk about what you're looking forward to! I'm going to join you: I'm looking forward to my mom coming into town in February, the new month starting a new budget, finding flowers and a cake for our wedding (it's stressing me out that I think I know what I want but am so scared to make the final decision), and possibly PR'ing my next half February 12th.
ReplyDeleteThanks Meghan!!
No more winter blah's for you my dear! I think that you have so much to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteOh and you and running and Starbucks all in the same picture? Why am I not surprised? :)
Hi Meghan, we love you! I confess this is the first one of these that I have opened. Awesome! We miss you and the rest of the family. Say "HI" to everyone for us. Nancy & Jay
ReplyDeletegood for you for wanting to ditch the blahs! good luck with your race!

I should have planned to go to Blissdom since it's so close to home, but I didn't.
ReplyDeleteIt's restaurant week in LA right now and I haven't been to any of the places yet! Sad!
ReplyDeleteAnd this weekend I'm going to a HUGE SoCal blogger meetup - 60 bloggers. I'm nervous but excited :)
I'm looking forward to a double digit run...I miss them...and the yummy brunch that follows! My double digit run recovery drink until I get home!? Starbucks grande chai!!! Sub 2:00 is SOOOOO going to happen for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally jealous! I really want to go to blissdom!
